Enclosed you will find ctd data from german research vessels. The data are stored in unique format. The format comprise the followed sections: (a) MAIN-HEADER records These are 30 records each time which include the meta-information about the station and the number of channels and data cycles. Each record begins with plain text description. (b) CHANNEL-HEADER records These records content information about the parameter its unit, maximum, and minimum. The number of channel-headers is stored in the main-header record 25. (c) CALIBRATION-HEADER These records content information about data validationen if the BSH software is used. The number of of calibration-hearders is stored in main-header record 26. (d) COMMENT-HEADER These records content comments to the data, validation etc.. (e) DATA This is the keyword for the begin of the data. The number of data cycles is stored in main-header record 24. The file structure: Every station is stored in one file. The stations of one cruise are collected in one directory. The name of a directory is the reference number for the cruise. If you have comments or questions to a station please refer the name of the directory or reference number and the file name not the cast number or other names. The link between the reference number and the cruise meta-information can you find in the file content.
