The data in subdirectory "data/1-data" were created by "unzipping" the
data in subdirectory "data/0-data" (F. Mitchell, NODC). 

The list of transferred files described in /about/1-email.txt reflects
the contents of data/1-data/data/. The final list of data files is:

These files are in a 'self-describing' format, where the measured
variables are identified in the file header information, which includes
an identifier for each variable. This variable identifier is then used
as the column heading for the corresponding values in a tabular data
