The filter is described as having a "40-hour cutoff." CMDAC does not have the original unfiltered data and was unable to check for instrument errors. The temperatures in this file are potential, rather than in-situ temperatures. (Potential temperature is the temperature that a water parcel would have if it were moved adiabatically from its measurement depth to the sea surface.) There is an unrealistic spike during the first few days of the temperature series. This may be an instrument error.
