No worries! I'm just glad it was a relatively easy fix/work-around! :) I've ftped over the new version of the files. Meant to email you on Friday but got sidetracked with other QC isssues! >CSID 45891...GYRW, there is a between the Q_Record, >and the UpdateDate fields. It appears as if there are >no depth/temp pairs for this station as well. I dont know what happened with this drop. I can read it using "Quest" - but looking at the meds-ascii file can see that one of Q_Pos, Q_Date_time or Q_Record must be missing. (Obviously Quest isn't too fussy about formatting!?!) So that would probably explain why your system has put a character in there! As you found the station contains no actual data - it was flagged with "No Trace Reject" - class4. Well it would have been if there was any data to flag! I'm not entirely sure what to do with this - but i guess the most appropriate thing to do is to just throw out that station, since we're not actually losing any data. A successful repeat station was done shortly afterwards. While looking through all these meds-ascii files, I was surprised to find another CSIRO-monitored ship with realtime data. The missing delayed mode data was from The Swan Reefer (S6FK) from 28 September to 2 October 1998. I asked Ann about this and she's been able to track down the missing data. It looks like the data was late getting to her and missed the cut-off date for submission to you. I'm not too sure how to edit such long files, so could you please update the sep & oct meds-ascii files for me? I've attached the file to this email and will also put in our ftp site (ftp.bom.gov.au), in case it doesn't transfer properly: ftp> cd /anon/home/bmrc/10day ftp> dir 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /usr/bin/ls. -rw-r--r-- 1 134 118 170183 Sep 24 02:05 srtest.MA.gz There's no rush on this one - it will be a while before I get that far into the 98 data! :) While you're at our ftp site, you might also want to pick the latest BoM dataset: ftp> cd /anon/home/bmrc/perm/JAFOOS/ 250 CWD command successful. ftp> dir 200 PORT command successful. 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /usr/bin/ls. -rw-r--r-- 1 134 118 10800142 Sep 24 02:22 BOM2000.MA.gz And i think thats just about everything for the time being....! cheerio, lisa ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lisa Cowen Joint Australian Facility for Ocean Observing Systems (JAFOOS) BMRC, Box 1289K, Melbourne Victoria 3001 Australia t: +61 3 9669 4161 f: +61 3 9669 4660 e: l.cowen@bom.gov.au w: www.bom.gov.au/bmrc/ocean www.bom.gov.au/bmrc/ocean/JAFOOS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
