Source: Temperature data received at NODC on 01/01/1998 by Igor Smolyar,
from Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY), NY "Meteorological 
Observations Carried out on Russian Navy Vessels, St. Petersburg: Navy Printing House, 1890."  

Format: These data were manually entered into a MS Excel spreadsheet by NODC personnel 
and/or contractors from the original source.  The MS Excel spreadsheet was 
subsequently saved as a comma-delimited file in .csv format.  Further information
about the format description can be found in the file, CSV_format_description.html,
in the /about directory.


Using a report generating subroutine created in the Ocean Climate 
Laboratory, the following information was produced:

Oceanographic profile temperature collected using bottle from the STRELOK, 
VITYAZ (BEFORE 12/81), and other platforms in the South Atlantic, Equatorial Atlantic
and other locations from 1862 to 1877 (NODC Accession 0000500)
