Beginning with data collected in September 2006, the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) started providing F291 data files to NODC with the following additional parameters for some buoys: HOURLY LOW ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE, TIME OF HOURLY LOW ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE, HOURLY PEAK WIND SPEED, DIRECTION OF HOURLY PEAK WIND SPEED, and TIME OF HOURLY PEAK WIND SPEED. NDBC added the new parameters to the CONTINUOUS WIND MEASUREMENT DATA RECORD (i.e., the J Record) of the F291 data format.
The Corps of Engineers has discovered a few errors in our archived wave data for the months of August and November 1994. The specific stations and erroneous data are identified in this document. (David B. Gilhousen, NDBC, May 17, 1995)
This memo should be part of all buoy data out requests.
The center frequency parameter for the Nov. and Dec. 1994 data were corrected to the resolution called for in the record types C and G of the F291 format (.001 hertz).
Beginning in Jan 95, NDBC will be using the new record types K and L for reporting all wave spectra data. These new record types can accomodate the center frequency of .0001 hertz. In addition the new Nondirectional spectra record, type K can now accommodate spectral densities to hundred thousandths. This was done in anticipation of new smaller buoys capable of measuring the higher frequency waves. Even those buoys equipped with the older wave measuring systems that normally report the center frequency in .001 hertz will use the new record types. Thus the original record type C, Nondirectional spectra format, and record type G, Co and Quad spectra format, will no longer be used by NDBC. (Phil Hadsell, NODC, February 1995)
Contains a recreation of a memo that Phil Hadsell (NODC) received from Dave Gilhousen of NDBC concerning recently discovered anemometer errors. This information should be given to Buoy Data Customers. (David B. Gilhousen, NDBC, January 5, 1994)
