Satellite Oceanography at NODC
- The primary goal of NODC's Satellite Oceanography Group is to provide scientific stewardship of NOAA/NESDIS oceanographic satellite datasets and analyses.

NCEP Optimum Interpolation Sea Surface Temperature Analysis - produced weekly and monthly on a one-degree grid, the analysis uses in situ and satellite SST, plus SST's simulated by sea-ice cover. Also, included are Global Monthly Averaged Sea Surface Temperature Animations.
NOAA's Laboratory for Satellite Altimetry specializes in the analysis of satellite altimeter data related to problems in physical oceanography and marine geophysics.
- Geosat Altimeter Data: Enhanced JGM-3 Geophysical Data Records on CD-ROM (Geodetic & Exact Repeat Missions).
- Geosat Global Wind/Wave Data on CD-ROM - derived from altimeter data collected during the Geodetic Mission of the U.S. Navy Geodetic Satellite (Geosat).
WOCE Version 3.0 on DVD - The World Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE) dataset contains older ocean satellite data, as well as many other parameters. An online version is also available.
Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) CD-ROMs - Chesapeake Bay Region; St. Croix Estuary Region - this program uses remote sensing to classify land cover in coastal submerged habitats (aquatic vegetation), wetland habitats, and adjacent uplands. Blended in situ-CZCS Chlorophyll Data Set - Historical archives of in situ (National Oceanographic Data Center) and satellite (Coastal Zone Color Scanner) chlorophyll data were combined using the blended analysis method of Reynolds [1988] in an attempt to construct an improved climatological seasonal representation of global chlorophyll distributions.
